How can I add a background image to my report title page?

Nigel Ogram

In 1860, George Eliot’s book, The Mill on the Floss said “don’t judge a book by its cover”. However, it is human nature to do just that – if a book’s cover is appealing, there’s a better chance of it being read. Sadly, the converse is also true.

Suitability reports aren’t generally famed for being a riveting read and their front pages are often an indicator of this. So, we’ve recently added another brand-new feature to Genovo – the Report Title Page Image. This feature is automatically included at no extra cost for Company Mini plans and above. For Solo plans and Company Starter plans, it can be purchased as a subscription bolt-on for just £5 per month. If you don’t have the Report Title Page Image feature and would like to include it, send us a support ticket and we’ll get it added for you.

What does the Report Title Page Image do?

This new feature does what the name suggests – it allows you to add an image to the title page of your Genovo reports, to make them look more eye-catching, professional and magazine-like, thus enhancing your brand. Ultimately, a professional-looking report title page will encourage more clients to actually want to read the contents!

The Genovo Knowledge Base

We have an entire Knowledge Base section dedicated to Report Title Page Image, which as you’ve probably come to expect, also includes a short but really informative video tutorial. These five articles will tell you everything you need to know about how to use Report Title Page Image to make your reports look even better than they already do!

Nigel’s knowledge

A great-looking report isn’t just down to a nice title page image. There are lots of other things you can do to make your reports visually engaging, such as creating an attractive Report Theme, adding your company logo, including adviser headshots etc. Rather than reading several separate articles, we’ve pulled all of these ideas into a single Knowledge Base article.

Of course, visuals are only half of the story. Genovo’s customisation suite also allows you to manage the report content too. Have a look at:

  • Report Content Manager which provides functionality to customise and manage the entire boilerplate content of your reports.
  • Report Section Manager which allows you to add custom sections to reflect your firm’s individual advice service.
  • Advice Options & Reasons Library, which lets you manage and customise the selectable / tickable options you’ll find in the steps of the various Wizard Sections.

Of course, if you’re still stuck, or just need a helping hand, you can always submit a support ticket and we’ll get straight back to you.

Nigel has worked in financial services in one form or another for over 35 years. After a few years as an adviser, he started his paraplanning career in 1997 and quickly found an affinity for building and establishing systems and processes designed to drive efficiencies. While paraplanning, Nigel also developed and marketed an Excel-based factfind / needs analysis system, which opened up a new path working with financial services software. This continued with roles at Synaptic Systems, where in addition to being the in-house subject-matter expert on the core applications, Nigel developed a passion for helping advisers and their teams integrate software effectively and profitably within their businesses. Outside of work, Nigel is a confirmed “petrolhead” with a strong interest in motorsport, which he often combines with his second hobby – photography, which he shares with his two sons.
