Genovo Suitability Report Risk Warnings Updates April 2022

Team Genovo

We’ve got the feather duster out and are having a bit of a spring clean here at Genovo! Carrying on from the updates we applied at the turn of the tax year which included a review of all the product and technical notes, we’ve since turned our attention to risk warnings.

We know that you, our users, really like the fact that at Genovo we see risk warnings a little differently to disadvantages; and when you create a report in Genovo the relevant risk warnings specific to the advice being given are automatically included in the resultant report. However, we’re also mindful that some of the peripheral functionality around risk warnings could be better, including:

  • The wording of some of the risk warnings is a bit jargonistic and not as succinct as it could be.
  • A more consistent approach could be used to present the risk warnings in the different report types.

i.e. In a Suitability Report the risk warnings come out in a tabular format in their own dedicated section, whereas in all other report types they come as bullet points under a ‘Risk warnings’ subheading within the Important Information section.
  • When the risk warnings come out in tabular format and run over one page (as they frequently do), presenting them in one big shaded table is not the most elegant solution visually.
  • When the risk warnings come out as bullet points in the Important Information section a blank line is inserted between each ‘block’ of risk warnings.
  • For report types (Review Report 2.0, Continued Suitability Report, Fund Switch and Top-up / Bed & ISA) where the risk warnings are included within the Important Information section, neither is it possible from within the Report Builder to hide the risk warnings or change where they come out in a particular report, nor edit the template content within the corresponding snippet via the Report Content Manager.

Risk warnings enhancements

Therefore, we’ve made a few tweaks to the risk warnings functionality in Genovo including:

  • We’ve reviewed and enhanced the wording of all the risk warnings snippets.
  • Risk warnings will now come out in the Risk Warnings section in ALL report types. The Risk Warnings section will continue to show in the Report Builder for all report types thereby providing the user with greater control over when and where they come out in a particular report.
  • The risk warnings will no longer be rendered in a shaded table to improve formatting and presentation.

What’s more, it will now be much quicker and easier for Genovo Admin to manage the risk warnings when changes are required in the future – so a win-win for all concerned!
