Everything you need to know about v2 launch weekend

Ed Evans

With Genovo v2 launch weekend rapidly approaching, it’s fair to say an air of anticipation and excitement is building here at Genovo Mission Control! It was great to see so many of our users attend one of our recent v2 preview webinars , and given the amount of positive feedback we’ve received since, you’re clearly also excited and can’t wait to get your hands on v2!

We’ve already provided lots of information about Genovo v2, but now we’re getting closer to liftoff, we thought it would be useful to reiterate some of the key takeaways for launch weekend and beyond.

When is Genovo v2 launch weekend?

We will be migrating all data and launching Genovo v2 over the weekend of 27/28 April.

Will I be able to access Genovo during launch weekend?

No, you will not be able to access Genovo and write reports during launch weekend. Genovo will be offline from 18.00 on Friday 26 April until 08.00 on Monday 29 April to facilitate the launch of v2. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Will I be able to use Genovo v2 straight out of the box?

Yes. Over the course of the launch weekend, all data from v1 (which after launch will become known as ‘Genovo Legacy’) will be migrated across to v2. As a result, you will be able to come back to work on Monday 29 April, log in to Genovo v2 and continue from where you left off on the preceding Friday.

Having said this, v2 will introduce a number of new features including new or updated sections, steps and snippets (report content). For most users, these changes will have the minimum of impact on their existing reports and templates. However, please bear in mind, you will need to step through and complete the new steps in the sections of the Report Builder of any existing reports / templates to trigger the resultant new content.

You should also note that if you have made customisations to the boilerplate content of your reports via the Report Content Manager, you will need to review your custom snippets to ensure that your custom content still flows correctly in the context of the updated Genovo boilerplate content when your reports are downloaded in v2. You may want to revert back to the updated Genovo version or update your custom version accordingly. You will find new functionality in v2 to help you with this.

Will I still be able to access Genovo Legacy?

Yes. Genovo Legacy will remain live and continue to be supported and updated for three months following the launch of Genovo v2 to provide all existing users with ample time to prepare their own transition over to Genovo v2. Genovo Legacy will be permanently turned off at 18.00 on Friday 26 July 2024, and you will no longer be able to access it.

Will any data I enter into Genovo Legacy after the launch of v2 ever come across into v2?

No, unfortunately this isn’t possible because Genovo Legacy and v2 are totally separate entities and the importing of data from the legacy version of Genovo into v2 can only happen once – on launch weekend.

When Genovo Legacy is turned off, the data that you’ve added into it since the launch of v2 will no longer be available to you and will not come across into v2. As such, we would recommend that you transition over to Genovo v2 as soon as you possibly can.

How will I access Genovo v2 and Genovo Legacy?

After launch weekend, the current URL https://app.genovo.co.uk will point to Genovo v2. Therefore, if you click on the log in button on the Genovo website or a link that you’ve previously bookmarked for the Genovo app in your browser, you will be directed to Genovo v2.

After v2 goes live, you will be able to access Genovo Legacy via a new URL https://legacy.genovo.co.uk.

Help! I do not want my users logging in to Genovo v2 until I have reviewed the updates and made any necessary changes. Can you do anything to stop them?

Sorry, but there is no way that we can deactivate Genovo v2 for a particular account. This is something that you will need to communicate internally and manage within your team.

Having said this, as an account admin, you could log in to Genovo v2 first thing on the morning of 29 April and set all your account’s users to ‘unapproved’ via Account Admin > Manage Users. This will temporarily deactivate their account in v2 and stop them from being able to log in.

Will there be any support to help me transition over to Genovo v2?

Following the feedback received from our recent v2 familiarisation webinars, we are confident that our existing users will find Genovo v2 instantly recognisable and very familiar to navigate, and it won’t take them very long at all to get up and running with v2.

However, over the course of the launch weekend, we will also be releasing the following to help with this:

But if you can’t find what you’re looking for, please don’t go pulling your hair out! Just submit a support ticket and we’ll get straight back to you – we’re here to help.
